10 Eco-Friendly Gadgets Made From Bamboo

admin | December 2nd, 2012 - 5:45 pm

Often, people think that to adopt a green lifestyle they have to ditch the tech gadgets and tools that make life easier and more enjoyable. That’s not exactly true. In fact, a new line of bamboo products are both safe for the environment and durable.

But why bamboo? Well, it’s a sustainable raw material that grows up to five times faster than wood materials, making it one of the most renewable sources on the planet. Since it is a grass it can grow in most climates and environments without chemicals or pesticides, and it produces 35% more oxygen than hardwood trees. What really seals the deal is that bamboo’s tensile strength, or the measurement of a material’s ability to handle stress, surpasses that of steel.

As bamboo tech products become more trendy, the marketplace is becoming inundated with versions claiming to be “green” when they are not. That’s why we compiled a list of gadgets made of sustainable bamboo that give you equal, if not better, quality and durability than their more toxic counterparts.

Anatoliy Omelchenko of Triangle Tree reports that since launching the iBamboo speaker we featured in June 2011, he has received numerous requests from customers asking if there’s anything like it that’s made from plastic. Despite being made from a material considered stronger than some plastics and metal, users seem worried that the beautifully simple iPhone amplification device may get damaged if made part of their regular travel kit. Enter the new iBamboo Urban design, which is shaped just like its natural elder but is made from recycled plastic. more…>

In Memory of Steve Jobs

admin | October 10th, 2011 - 6:08 pm

Dear followers,

The passing of Steve Jobs, has touched us all. Jobs’ contribution was more than just in the form of a new phone or computer. He created a new standard for technology with his innovations, and redefined it each time. The quality of a product for him was more than just function. He ensured that everything he made was with the ideals of beauty and simplicity in mind, which in today’s world are often lost. His work was his passion, and his products were a realization of a dream. Past his contribution to the world today, we must look to what he has contributed to the world of tomorrow. He has inspired countless number of people around the world to break through the status quo, bring their ideas past a concept, and take hold of their future.

Simply put, without the iPhone, my product would not exist. However, the iPhone was not made because there was a need for a phone. Similarly, the iBamboo does not exist because there is a need for speakers. The iPhone was an innovation of how a phone can look and function. There was a need for innovation in response to the needs of a changing world. Today there is a pressing need for cleaner and more efficient planet. This is the push and root from which iBamboo was born. Requiring no electricity, made of only natural bamboo, and requiring minimal production, it is the most eco-friendly speaker on the market.

iBamboo’s design is possible thanks to the elegance of the iPhone. Its function is possible thanks to nature. Today iPhone sets a standard for beautiful simplicity. If we hope to have a better tomorrow, we must set a new standard. I hope to set it with the beautiful simplicity of nature.

One more thing… the iBamboo Speaker is officially compatible with the new iPhone 4S.

Thank you!

I am proud to announce that the iBamboo has been featured in the NY Times Magazine in their front page article about the success of Kickstarter. I am very happy and honored to be featured in such a widespread publication, and hope that the iBamboo continues to be a success.  I’ve been receiving a lot of good feedback and I am happy that there are a lot of people anxious for the iBamboo.

The New York Times Magazine

I was happy to receive this email from Michael early this morning.

“Hi, I just read about you in the NY Times mag. What a great idea. I was at my friends house in the country and while hanging out at the pool I used my iPhone to listen to music. I needed a speaker badly. So please let me know when I can order one. Thanks”. Thank you Michael!

With production almost complete, after I receive my order, I will notify all of you (all of you) and will begin shipment. Check my blog for updates.
